The Basics

Logs are processed into lumber in several steps. First the logs are cut into shorter lengths, and these shorter sections are then sawn along their length into boards. Another saw is used to cut the board into lumber having the desired width and thickness. Next, the waste edges are trimmed to square the edges. Similarly, the waste ends are cut to square the ends. The lumber is then stacked to dry.
